Antica varietà di pera ritrovata nell’area di Pietralunga al confine con le Marche. Albero poco vigoroso e forma espansa. Fioritura tardiva e raccolta nella seconda metà di ottobre. Frutto piccolo variabile tra il piriforme e il globoso. Picciolo lungo e sottile. Buccia completamente ricoperta di rugginosità (da qui il nome Rubbia= rugginosa) , polpa crema molto granulosa. Ottima da cottura o mangiata sovra matura ovvero ammezzita.
Ancient variety of pear found in the Pietralunga area on the border with the Marche. Not very vigorous tree and expanded shape. Late flowering and harvested in the second half of October. Small fruit varying between pyriform and globose. Long and thin petiole. Skin completely covered with russeting (the name Rubbia = russet), very sandy cream pulp. Excellent for cooking or eaten over-ripe or half-cooked.
